* 16-20 hour days… for 3 weeks… 7 days a week… that’s what it took to get the job done. Wake up by 5 am and prepare for the day, work from 7 am until 3 pm, drive to the new place with a SUV full of boxes, unload and paint the new place until 10 pm, drive home, pack the car, be in bed by midnight, and up the next day to do it all over again. My gratitude to my parents and my In-Laws will never be able to be repaid for all of their hard work and generous gifts as we moved into our Danbury home. No thanks are enough to my brother in law who rented a ZIP car and drove from New Haven to help. No thanks are enough to my friend Alex who passed up Happy Hour on a Friday with co-workers to come paint the electric blue ceiling in my office a nice clean white color and the multi-colored wall ‘Sand Dune‘ by Benjamin Moore until after midnight.
* Last week there was no date night. It had been violently consumed by the ugly moving monster. So this past Friday Diana and I spent the evening at home watching the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 while eating a home cooked meal. Something we hadn’t done in nearly a month thanks to the move.
* Last weekend my father made the trip down to visit and help us with the move. While outside cutting a cardboard box on the tail of his truck, he cut his pad on his fingertip off. Woops… “Jake, I think we need to go to the emergency room.” Awesome. While he was down, he surprised Diana and I with a new set of washer and dryer thanks to my parents and grandmother. HUGE… HUGE! I can’t tell you how many times we had to make Sunday trips to the laundry matt because the person we shared the laundry room with was soaking their clothes. You never really know what you are have until it’s gone… or vise versa.
* On Thursday, Diana and I had another sonogram among the plethora of scheduled tests. I never get tired of seeing these images and hearing the hear beat. Seriously, is there anything better?
